If you're having trouble inserting blind nuts on the inside of the engine's firewall, (e.g. Great Planes ARF Cessna Skylane 182 & ARF Venus-40) try this. Epoxy a flat head screw (of the appropriate size) to the end of a 1/4" dowel, 10" to 12" long. After the epoxy has cured, screw a blind nut half-way on the dowel-screw. Add a small amount of epoxy under the flange of the blind nut for added strength (optional). Be careful not to get epoxy in the threads. Push the blind nut firmly into the hole from the back of the firewall until the cleats are seated. Start an engine mounting screw and flat washer from the front. As the screw from the front progresses, it will pull and seat the blind nut into the hole from the rear. This idea of mine will be published in the August 2007 issues of 'Model Airplane News' and 'Backyard Flyer'.
